PE & School Sport

At Tower Primary School & Nursery we recognise the contribution of PE to the health and well-being of the children. We believe that an innovative, varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all our children.

We provide high quality PE and Sport at Tower. This year we have all enjoyed specialist coaching in football, dance, gymnastics and multi-skills. Our football and netball teams have continued to improve their skills and have taken part in all the inter-school matches in our group.

In addition to competitive sports, we encourage our children to be active all day. We have recently installed an exciting traversing wall. Our children are designing the images that they would like to have painted on the wall in July.

Below is the link to the part of this website which gives details about how we are using our Sports and PE Grant Funding.

Swimathon

Children in Year 5/6 saw a poster at Fanshawe Swimming Pool advertising Swimathon - a national sponsored event for Sports Relief. They suggested that they could take part. On Sunday 20th March, 18 children (supported by many parents) swam 70 lengths as a team, resulting in the children swimming 214 individual lengths. No mean feat considering we had many swimmers that had not even swum one length before and some that had to use woggles. We raised a total of £225 !!

Football Tournament

Well done to all those children in Years 4,5,6 who took part in the football tournament held at Wodson Park on Monday 14th March.

Netball Tournament

Well done to all those who took part in the netball tournament held at Wodson Park on Tuesday 8th March. We came second in our group, but unfortunately lost out on goal difference and were unable to progress any further. A great effort from all !
